Kesha is ready for the holiday season.

The Grammy-nominated pop star, 37, released an electrifying cover of Lindsey Buckingham‘s 1983 hit “Holiday Road” on Oct. 15 for the Spotify Singles Holiday Collection, the streaming platform’s festive installment of exclusive reimagined songs.

Originally written and recorded by Buckingham as a bouncy, rock-and-roll track for the film National Lampoon’s Vacation, Kesha’s fresh take on “Holiday Road” features a vocoder effect and electro-rock production by Zhone, who worked on her latest hit, “Joyride.”

The “Praying” singer’s version of “Holiday Road” also features some new lyrics, as she croons after the first chorus, “Grab your money, grab your clothes / Grab your baby, hit the road / We all need a holiday.”

Additional songs featured in this year’s Spotify Singles Holiday Collection include “Run Rudolph Run” by Mark Ambor, “River” by Max Richter, “Driving Home for Christmas” by Dasha and “Emmanuel” by Miel San Marcos.

Earlier this week, Kesha featured on a new remix of Charli xcx‘s “Spring Breakers” for the British pop star’s new album, Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat.

The track saw the “Blow” performer return to her signature sleazy, fun lyrics and auto-tuned vocals as she referenced her past work and sang-rapped, “Me and Charli, we the party girl gods / Oh baby, you mad watchin’ me win? / Do it again ’cause I’m Kesha, bitch.”

“Makin’ me sick, nominated / All the motherf—ers better be prayin’ / Singin’ my song, singin’ along / ‘Tik Tok’ bitch ’til the kingdom come,” declared Kesha. “Give ’em a hit, they can eat s— / Choke on my name while you suck on my d—.”

Kesha’s latest official single, “Joyride,” came out in July as her first release since the end of her near-decade-long legal battle against producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, as well as her first since parting ways with RCA Records and Vector Management in June 2023.Kesha performs during Lollapalooza at Grant Park on August 01, 2024

In a recent interview with ELLE, she opened up about why her next album is going to embody “joy.”

“Everybody knows me as a fun human being. My soul is very fun. My name means ‘innocent joy.’ But, you know, there’s only so much somebody can take before just feeling wrecked….” said Kesha. “My soul needs this album. I need to reclaim my joy. Because I fought so f—ing long and hard for it.”
