NCIS fans are hoping for a special appearance from Sean Murray’s character Timothy McGee in the spinoff show NCIS: Tony And Ziva.
The series is expected to premiere in 2025, and viewers are already sharing their theories about what to expect. Taking to X, one person begged, “Mcgee in the Tony & Ziva spin-off, please.”
Another warned, ” If McGee is not in the Tony and Ziva spinoff, I will be so sad. I just need a crumb of my trio, please.” A third fan echoed those sentiments, writing, “Does anyone else kind of hope that McGee leaves NCIS MCRT to join Tony and Ziva on the spinoff? That would be really fun.”

NCIS: Tony And Ziva will follow Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) after they both left NCIS separately several years ago. The pair share plenty of history, both romantic and professional, and even have a daughter together – Tali.
In the spinoff, Tali will be portrayed by Emelia Golfieri. NCIS: Tony And Ziva is set in Paris and fans can expect plenty of drama.
Tony and Ziva reunited after he had initially believed she was dead. Tony had been raising their daughter alone, but it was later revealed Ziva had faked her death to protect her family from a woman named Sahar, who wanted to kill her.
Cote de Pablo has promised fans the spinoff will be action-packed and suggested Tony and Ziva will have trouble reaching their “happily ever after”. She told Variety: “We’re trying to address the idea of trust and were trying to address how they move forward parenting together with this child and trying to make things work and having a lot of challenges thrown at them.”
Speculation about Sean Murray joining his former NCIS co-stars comes after some fans became convinced McGee could soon be leaving NCIS. The character was rejected for a promotion in the first episode of season 22, and viewers think this could be the set-up for his exit.
Instead, the job went to Gabriel LaRoche, former DOJ Inspector General, after Leon Vance left his position as Deputy Director due to family issues. However, it is also possible that McGee’s being overlooked for the promotion could actually lead to a story arc for the character, keeping him on the show.
It’s possible that giving LaRoche the job as Deputy Director while he is suspected of being a mole could make him a potential villain, with McGee tasked with investigating and potentially taking over once he is found out.
