Cynthia Erivo got very candid about her time on the Wicked set.
The Wicked film star opened up about life on set. She appeared on an episode of the Sentimental Men podcast on Sunday, Nov. 17 and revealed that she would refuse to use the bathroom for up to 12 to 14 hours at a time during long production days. Cynthia plays Elphaba in the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked with Ariana Grande as Glinda. The film premieres on Friday, Nov. 22.
Cynthia said: “I don’t go to the bathroom. Once I’m in my costume and this is probably a terrible idea and the harness is on, I’m not doing it. I’m not dealing with it. There’s too many layers.”

Some of Cynthia’s shooting days would start as early as 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. and continue well into the evening. In the film, she would perform her own stunts and would be connected to different harnesses. The production crew would ask the actress if she needed to use the bathroom and she would refuse.
She recalled response as, “No, I don’t need the bathroom. Let’s go. Let’s go. We’re in it”
Cynthia went into detail on how a day would look like on set when she had to be connected harnesses. She said: “Those days were really interesting because once youre in the harness, you dont want to come out of the harness because it takes forever to get everything prepped again and wires and whatnot.” She continued: “Those days can be really big. They can be really exhausting because your body is being put through the strangest things.”
The actress knew she wanted to perform her own stunts while singing on set live, something that is unheard of. Cynthia admitted to having to train her body and different muscle groups to be able to sing the notes. The film teased many of the scenes between her and Ariana. One showed Ariana hanging from a chandelier in her Glinda pink dress while Cynthia was sitting on the bed and hoping not to get hit by the singer’s pointed toes.
