Balam is a rescue dog from the Querétaro Red Cross who went to Turkey to assist with search and rescue operations; nonetheless, his story is noteworthy since he survived a poisoning.
This gorgeous ball of fur was divided between life and death after being poisoned by a neighbor who threw sausages tainted with alkaloids at him on the street that he walked every day with his parents Athos and Tango, both of whom were carrying out the great mission of rescue puppies.
Puppy who survived poison is now a great rescuer.
The death of these puppies marked the first instance of maltreatment to be brought to a criminal prosecution in Mexico, and the perpetrator was given a 10-year prison term as a result. Tragically, the Balam’s parents were too young to survive the vicious attack.
On June 13, 2021, Benjamin N., 60 years old, perpetrated the wicked act of poisoning on the furry rescuers.
Due to Athos, Balam’s father, who had a great track record of helping find seven people who were buried under the rubble in the Mexico City earthquake on September 19, 2017, the case generated a great deal of controversy in the Latin American region, and the trial against the man who caused his death eventually had its final results.
According to several local media, the man had frequently threatened the puppies’ guardians to hurt them if they continued to go along the streets they shared. Sadly, he succeeded in his goal, and the father of Balam and Tango perished.
But justice won out, and the man now spends his days in jail. In contrast, Balam carries on his father’s legacy by saving lives and acting as a conduit for light and love when Mother Nature destroys everything.
After this tragedy, Balam has been surrounded by lovely people who have accompanied him in his healing process. One of them was Edgar Martnez, who eventually took on the role of primary caregiver for the border collie/Australian shepherd mix.
For a long time, they have been training to rescue missing persons, this being one of the key skills of this cute ball of fur that is conquering millions of hearts for its great work .
Balam, the sole dog to survive the poisoning, is now helping to support the rescue efforts of those who were harmed by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria.
A group of experts from the Sedena, the Navy, the Red Cross, as well as a group of Topos that landed in the city of Adana, 240 kilometers from where the earthquake occurred, were sent from Mexico to support the Eurasian nation at this difficult time, according to Marcelo Ebrard, secretary of foreign relations.
There are 16 canine pairs that have been properly trained for this situation. According to Ebrard, the current strategic goal is to rescue people since it is urgent.
Balam clung to life and now has the great mission of saving others. He behaves impartially and without regard to past injuries, unlike humans.
In order to find you and let others know that he has discovered you, he will be the first to offer his support and will enter areas that the Hu man is unable to access.
The next time you assume that puppies are merely pets, reconsider and acknowledge the great nobility and intelligence that reside within them.
How much we still have to learn from these amazing individuals! Balam is a hero without a cape and a miracle of life.
