Without a question, instilling principles, compassion, and a love for animals in children should be a source of great pride for parents. Four youngsters from Detroit, Michigan (USA) rescued a hungry dog that was on the verge of being put down. These people are truly making a difference in the world and restoring hope in humanity.
Kenneth, Kevin, and Andrew Daniels, the Kenny brothers, were assisting an elderly neighbor with her belongings as she moved to a new location. They heard noises from the nearby house, which appeared to be abandoned, while executing this work. They wanted to confirm what was going on, and what they discovered was tragic.
The lads realized the animal was in horrible health and that they couldn’t leave her there, so they freed her, covered her in a jacket, and carried her home.
The kids were keen to assist her, giving her the name ‘Sparkle,’ providing her with water and food, and ensuring she was comfortable and protected. They bumped across members of the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue the next day while walking Sparkle around the neighborhood and told them the incident.
The Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue is a non-profit committed to rescuing dogs that have been abandoned on the streets. Sparkle was immediately taken up by the organization because, in addition to being severely emaciated, she seemed to have scabies and was clearly mistreated.
The founder of Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue, Theresa Sumpter, told WDIV:
“You could see they genuinely cared for this small puppy, that they wanted to make sure she was taken care of.”
The rescuers were intrigued by the boys’ demeanor and requested if they could do a brief interview, which they consented to. After saying their goodbyes and hugging Sparkle, the rescuers whisked her away to a veterinarian, who ruled out the possibility of scabies.
She appeared that way because she was so thin, according to the doctor, but after multiple tests, all she needed was a nice meal. Sparkle only had to wait for someone with a decent heart to decide to give her a permanent home, which was fantastic news.
The workers at the shelter decided to post the touching tale on their Facebook page, congratulating the young heroes for their good act.
On Facebook, Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue wrote:
«Welcome to our heroes of the day! These lovely children rescued a little puppy who had been put on bungee cords and kept her safe until we were able to locate her.”
Sparkle was ready to be adopted after a few days, and Pet Tales Rescue, a local rescue group, found her the right home. Thanks to the four lads, Sparkle will now be able to live her life with a loving family, and they will continue to help animals in her area.
The four boys were able to rescue two additional pups who had been abandoned on the streets just a few months following Sparkle’s rescue.
When the shelter learned of the latest rescue, it promptly posted a thank you letter on its Facebook page to the four children.
