Dogs are known for their love of bones and that’s exactly what one-year-old cocker spaniel Frankie picked up while sniffing around a river bank — or so he thought.
In fact, dog walker Claire Robson, 44, from Gateshead, was horrified when he returned with the veiny ten-inch dildo as they were taking a stroll earlier this week.
He may have been trying to find a different kind of bone while rummaging beneath a hedgerow by the banks of the River Tyne but got his paws on a rubber sex toys instead.
She revealed it took the pooch 20 minutes to drop the dildo, saying she was left disgusted and ‘didn’t want to touch’ the item.
One-year-old cocker spaniel Frankie found himself a very different kind of bone when he was out for a walk along the River Tyne earlier this week
Dog walker Claire admitted she initially wasn’t sure what the pooch had picked up in his mouth.
Claire said: ‘I thought it was a big bit of plastic rubbery pipe because it was bouncing around a bit.
‘He wouldn’t come near because he’d found this treasure and he obviously thought it was great.
‘He was having none of it so he kept running away with it. I was like, “oh god”.
Dog walker Claire was shocked when she realised what Frankie was holding in his mouth and started to lure him closer with treats so she could get him on a lead in a desperate bid to wrangle the ten-inch sex toy from him.
Yet the determined pooch refused to give up his item so the mother-of-two was forced to walk him back to her van with the lifelike item wobbling about in his mouth.
It was only when he got back in the van and was offered another treat that Frankie finally dropped what he may have thought was just a regular bone and she was able to whisk it away while wearing a pair of gloves.
She added: ‘I didn’t want to touch it for hygiene [reasons].
He was very pleased with himself. If it was any of the dogs in the pack it would have been Frankie that found it.
‘He’s a right character, funny as well.’
