Chiefs predicted to sign legendary 6-time Pro Bowler away from Dolphins image

The Kansas City Chiefs have been active this offseason, but have not made many key outside additions. However, they could still land a legendary player before the season starts.

Calais Campbell is going into his 18th season in the NFL. He has a chance to have his career end in Caton with other legends of the game. Last season he played for the Miami Dolphins on a one-year, $2 million deal. USA Today’s Cory Woodroof predicts that Campbell will join the Chiefs in an attempt to win a ring before he retires.

“Campbell deserves to at least play in another Super Bowl, and joining the Chiefs would give him an excellent chance of doing so,” wrote Woodroof. “Kansas City would be lucky to add somebody like Campbell to the defensive line.”

The Chiefs have been to three consecutive Super Bowls, winning two of them. Campbell had five sacks last season. The 38-year-old also started all 17 games for the Dolphins. He could be a nice compliment to Chris Jones on the Chiefs defensive line.

He has 110.5 career sacks and is the active leader in tackles for a loss with 187. From 2014-2020 he made the Pro Bowl six consecutive times and was named a First-Team All-Pro in 2017. He has been named a Second-Team All-Pro twice in his career as well. Spotrac projects him to earn a one-year, $7 million deal. He could be a cheap addition for the Chiefs as he nears the end of his career.
