The New England Patriots have a lot of spots they need to address.

Free agency officially kicked off on Monday, and a lot of teams are expected to be active in the market. One of these active teams is the Patriots.

The Patriots are coming off of a tough 2024 season where they finished last in the division with a 4-13 record. The team is expected to add players that can help them move in the right direction. One of those players could be cornerback Carlton Davis.

Corner is a big need for the Patriots and they would love to get that addressed as soon as possible. Davis was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018 and spent his first six years with the team where he won a Super Bowl.

The 31-year-old cornerback is coming off of a solid year where he played 13 games with the Detroit Lions before suffering a season-ending injury.

Davis is set to hit free agency, where he is viewed as the top corner in the market.

He is also looking for a big contract and has no interest in settling for less.

When discussing his contract, Davis told the Athletic: “I was younger, and my mindset was, ‘I need to go ahead and just choose.’ At the time, the thinking was, ‘This is the offer, and the more you wait, the more that number’s gonna go down.’ Yeah, that can happen, but teams know your value, and right now I’m playing my best football.”

The Patriots have money to spend in free agency and have already made some moves in the offseason. Mutual interest could be there between both parties.
