Sam McCall’s death, and thus Kelly Monaco’s departure from General Hospital, rocked fans.
However, they’re getting riled up once again as they believe wrong person is being blamed. Sam passed away after she attempted to donate part of her liver to Lulu Spencer. The medical procedure took a turn for the worse when she experienced a heart attack and the doctors in Port Charles couldn’t save her.
Now, though, there’s a buzz that foul play might have been involved in her death. After all, this is a soap opera, so the details are bound to get a bit messy, including who was involved in the alleged murder. Fans, for the most part, latched onto the theory that Cyrus Renault was the culprit, but the writers might seem to have a different plan.
Alexis Davis, Sam’s mother, finally agreed to allow her body to have an autopsy. The results are in and Sam died from an overdose of digitalis which is typically used to treat congestive heart failure.
Fans are confident Cyrus was involved, but the plot began to point to Liz Webber who is taking the brunt of the blame. The narrative thus shifted, leaving fans surprised and in disbelief. One wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Liz being blamed for Sam’s death, Liz working with Lucky and Jason to clear her name. Laura and LuLu being gobsmacked and not believing it, Cyrus lurking around suspiciously. Sounds like a soap to me.. bring it on!!”
“Lucas won’t believe Liz really is to blame… right?” said one fan. Another added: “Liz being blamed for Sams death is crazy asf *grabs popcorn*”
While those characters might be gullible, fans certainly are not. They pointed toward the tense conversation between Cyrus and Lulu in a 2020 episode when he was loitering about the hotel. It’s pretty obvious to them that Cyrus was bound to be involved. “Cyrus is definitely up to no good with Lulu and also Sam. Another L for Laura on the ‘trusting psychos’ front,” wrote a viewer.
“Everyone being blamed or side eyed for Sam death. Everyone but Uncle Cyrus walking around like the fake model citizen,” a final fan piped in.
