An interview from 2019 with Harry Styles speaking on losing a friend resurfaced. This comes after the news broke that former One Direction member Liam Payne died
An interview with Harry Styles speaking on losing a friend resurfaced.
The former One Direction star died on Wednesday, October 16 in Argentina. Liam was known for being one of the five members of One Direction, a band that took the world by storm all thanks for the X-Factor and Simon Cowell in 2010. Liam sang alongside Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry. The band broke up in 2016 and they all went to seek solo careers.
Three years after the band went their separate ways, Harry did an interview with Apple Music. He briefly spoke about losing a friend, not knowing that his former group member was going to die five years later.

Harry said: “Every single person does it who’s ever lost a friend. Whether you’re close to them or not, I think everyone has that thing of like, ‘I wish I had just asked one more time if they’re okay. If there’s any positive thing that could possibly come out of that, it’s that now the conversations that I have with friends about that stuff is way different.”
He continued: “In terms of, like, you ask a friend if they’re okay, and it’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m good.’ I’m like more prepared to have that, like ‘no, but you know, are you actually okay?'”
Harry spoke out for the first time since Liam’s death was announced with a post on Instagram. He wrote: “I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing. His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did it. Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious. He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life. I will miss him always, my lovely friend. My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola and Ruth, his son bear, and all those around the world who knew and loved him, as I did.”
Alongside his words, Harry posted a photo of Liam on stage, looking out at fans in a packed stadium from when the band toured the world together. He captioned his post with a simple black heart emoji. Zayn and Louis also spoke out on his death, as well as a joint statement from the group.
