Will Valentine’s Day bring love to these rescue dogs?

Across Dogs Trust’s 20 rehoming centres in the UK, there are over 1,500 rescue dogs looking for love this Valentine’s Day – including a lovable lurcher with a heart shaped marking, hoping that this will make him stand out on the most romantic day of the year.

Could any of these dogs be your soul mate?

Freddo may be completely deaf, however with love literally on his side, this won’t slow down his search for a new home. Freddo has some unique markings on his coat, including his very own love heart; and canine carers are hoping this is a sign that he will find an adoring new owner in time for Valentine’s Day.

A firm favourite amongst staff at the rehoming centre, Freddo is fondly known as the dog who literally wears his heart on his sleeve. He adores being around people and his whole face and body light up at the chance to play or give out cuddles.

Sandra Lawton, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, says, “This beautiful boy is in need of a special home with an owner whose heart is as big as the one on his coat! We would also ask that they be patient with him and are willing to continue his ongoing puppy training.

“He has spent much of his life in kennels and although this certainly hasn’t fazed him, we’d love nothing more than to see him find his special someone.”

Oliver is a typical Collie who loves to keep active, his favourite game being fetch which he excels at. Oliver likes to keep his brain busy too and is definitely proof that you can teach an older dog new tricks as he picks new things up really quickly.

Dawn Bishop, Dogs Trust Manchester Manager, says, “Like many Collies, Oliver doesn’t like traffic noise so when our rehoming centre staff treated him to a day in the Peak District, he loved every minute of it. We really are hoping that very soon he’ll be having many more day trips with a family of his own.”

Alice has a lot of love to give, and is bouncy, cheeky, and lots of fun to be around – but is finding kennel-life a bit overwhelming. She has a few training needs and so will need dedicated owners who can offer her lots of their time. Her perfect home would be living with adults and no other pets, with a high-fenced, private garden.

Dogs Trust Shoreham Manager Tracey Rae says, “Alice would love a new home for Valentine’s Day, she is an active girl, with a very smart brain who enjoys company and affection. If you have space in your heart to give her a loving new home, we’d love to hear from you.”
