Investigators who are dealing with Liam Payne’s death are trying to get to the bottom of things.
On Wednesday, October 16, the former member of One Direction member died while on vacation in Argentina’s Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. He fell out of a balcony from his hotel room.
The investigation into Liam’s death remains ongoing. It was recently reported that a partial autopsy was done, showing multiple drugs such as crack, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and “pink cocaine” – a recreational drug that usually consists of a combination of many narcotics – in Liam’s system the time of his death.

It is not known if Liam fell or jumped from the balcony. Police received an emergency call from Liam’s hotel about an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol” and who had “thrown himself from the balcony of his room,” according to CBS news.
According to the prosecutor’s office, “numerous statements” have been obtained from hotel staff, medical personnel and others in an effort to “reconstruct the victim’s final hours.” Officials are also looking through electronic devices from the scene. In a press release, the prosecutor’s office stated that it will only release information about Liam’s death through its channels.
This comes after two employees of the CasaSur hotel were questioned by police after it was alleged that they smuggled narcotics to Liam in a Dove soap box before his tragic death. According to the Daily Mail, a cleaner and another member of the hotel staff were accused of providing him drugs.
Police searched the room and found a shattered television screen, white powder residue, a piece of scrunched-up burnt aluminum foil and a burnt soda can. An empty Dove soap box was pictured, which is how police believe the drugs were transported.
Liam’s body will remain in Argentina due to visa complications before his death. The singer flew to the country to support former band member Niall Horan at his sold-out show. Liam was having US visa issues after his application was reportedly denied. He wanted to renew his “extraordinary visa” in Buenos Aires.
Liam and Niall were part of the global boy band One Direction, alongside Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles. The band was founded in 2010 by Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger on the popular reality television show X-Factor.
