Schwimmer is not the first Friends star to try their hand at the horror genre. Courteney Cox famously starred as Gale Weathers in the Scream franchise while Jennifer Aniston appeared in the 1993 comedy horror film Leprechaun.
As for Schwimmer, he plays divorced dad Anthony who is hosting his twins, Cece and Devin, at his Gravesend, Brooklyn, home for the summer in Goosebumps: The Vanishing.
The show will chronicle the twins “adjusting to life with their recently divorced dad, Anthony. When the duo discovers a threat stirring, they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery,” according to an official synopsis.
“As they delve into the unknown, Devin, Cece and their friends — Alex, CJ and Frankie — find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994,” the description continues.
In the trailer for the show, Anthony ominously warns the children about his one house rule.
“I want you to have a really fun and also safe summer out here,” he explains. “I only have one rule: stay out of the basement.”
“What do you got in the basement?” asks his worried-looking son Devin (played by Dead to Me‘s Sam McCarthy).
Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin then come to realize their uncle was one of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in Gravesend three decades ago, setting them on a quest to uncover answers.
Later in the clip, Anthony receives a package from the police returning the clothes his brother was wearing when he went missing, prompting him to do some investigating of his own.Goosebumps: The Vanishing premieres all eight episodes on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, on Disney+ and Hulu.
