Mike Tyson has made a heartfelt plea to Jake Paul, urging him not to back out of their upcoming boxing match later this year.
Scheduled to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on July 20, fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the showdown between the two fighters.
For Tyson, aged 58, this will mark his return to the ring since his bout with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. However, concerns have arisen due to the significant 30-year age gap between Tyson and his 27-year-old opponent, Jake Paul.
Addressing the potential concerns, Tyson engaged in a discussion with Damon Elliott about the upcoming fight. While Elliott jokingly advised Paul to steer clear of Tyson, citing a memorable encounter from their past, Tyson himself encouraged Paul to proceed with the fight as planned.
In a sincere plea, Tyson implored Paul not to heed Elliott’s words, urging him to go through with the match: “Do it Jake, please, don’t listen to this man. Jake, don’t listen to him, please,” he remarked.
Thankfully, it appears unlikely that Paul will withdraw from the bout. Despite the age gap, Paul is taking the fight seriously, intending to bulk up to the size of Anthony Joshua and training rigorously for the match.
Acknowledging the intensity of the upcoming bout, Paul even remarked, “one of us has to die” as he gears up to face Tyson in the ring. Despite the gravity of his statement, it underscores his commitment to emerging victorious in the fight against the boxing legend.
