Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on Monday, September 16, and charged with what the Justice Department describes as a years-long scheme to sexually abuse and exploit women, allegedly leveraging his business empire to carry out these crimes.
The 54-year-old Combs was apprehended by federal agents at a New York City hotel, facing an indictment that includes charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for purposes of prostitution, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan.
Known for his music career, his Bad Boy Records label, and the MTV reality television program “Making the Band,” Combs could face life in prison if convicted.
On Tuesday, September 17, he pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges in federal court in Manhattan.
The indictment follows a series of civil lawsuits that began in November 2023, initiated by Combs’ former girlfriend, singer Cassie, who accused him of sexual and physical assault during their relationship. In March, federal agents executed searches of Combs’ properties as part of the ongoing investigation.
