Donald Trump has launched a full-blown war on the Smithsonian museums, blasting them as “OUT OF CONTROL” for what he says is an obsession with America’s dark past instead of celebrating its greatness.
In a fiery social media post Tuesday, Trump fumed: “All they talk about is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was … Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future!”
The former president revealed he has ordered his attorneys to comb through the Smithsonian’s exhibitions, vowing to root out “woke ideology” just as his team has done with colleges. “This Country cannot be WOKE, because WOKE IS BROKE,” he declared.
The review will target eight major museums, including the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Air and Space Museum.
The outburst is a sharp reversal from 2017, when Trump toured the African American History museum and praised it as “incredible” and a “meaningful reminder” of the fight against hatred.
Now, Trump insists it’s time to shine a spotlight on America’s “hot future” instead of dwelling on its painful past. The Smithsonian has declined to comment.
