Oleksandr Usyk has become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world after defeating British boxing star Tyson Fury in a thrilling match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian won on a split decision, with scores of 115-112 and 114-113 in his favor, while Fury took the other card with 114-113.

From the outset, Usyk applied relentless pressure, taking control of the center of the ring and launching an aggressive offensive. Fury, known as the “Gypsy King,” appeared relaxed as he moved around the ring and picked his shots in the early rounds. However, his composure was tested in the ninth round when Usyk landed a devastating right hook that seemed to put Fury in serious trouble.

The ninth round was pivotal as Usyk capitalized on his advantage, unloading a flurry of punches that had Fury reeling. Despite the onslaught, Fury managed to stay on his feet, earning a standing 10-second count and ultimately being saved by the bell. The moment was critical and left Fury struggling through the final three rounds as Usyk continued to chase him around the ring.

In the aftermath, Fury disputed the loss, claiming he had controlled the majority of the fight. “I believe I won that fight. I think he won a few rounds, but I won the majority of them,” Fury said. He also suggested that sympathy for Usyk’s war-torn country might have influenced the decision. “His country is at war, so people are siding with the country at war. Make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion.”

Usyk, on the other hand, expressed readiness for a rematch but emphasized the need for rest first. “I don’t think about a rematch now; I want to rest,” he stated.
