The second time was the charm for The Voice contestant Camryn Brooks!

Brooks, 24, earned a coveted chair turn from all four coaches on the Monday, Oct. 14 episode of the hit NBC competition series, just three years after her performance failed to yield even one — and in the aftermath of a scary health ordeal.

“I’m literally crying right now because this is like, absolutely unreal. I was a contestant on season 21 and I didn’t get any chair turns,” she told the coaches after her performance. “I didn’t ever envision I was going to get four so this is literally a dream come true.”

After listening to pitches from Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé, the singer — who performed “Light On” by Maggie Rogers — ultimately decided to go with Team Gwen. The “Somebody Else’s” singer said Brooks’ tone was reminiscent of the 1970s singer-songwriters she grew up on.

“I would listen to that voice on a record,” Stefani said. “It’s round, it’s soothing, it would be really fun to work with you ‘cause I feel like we could pick some really cool songs and define who you are.”

Brooks’ feat was made all the more sweet considering all that she’s been through in the years since she auditioned for season 21 in 2021.

The Mount Shasta, Calif. native said that after her failed audition, she “felt sad but really inspired” by what the coaches had to say, and had plans to finish school and start gigging.

But life soon threw Brooks “a huge curveball” when she was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle.

“It was really scary because I couldn’t get out more than three words at a time… The first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Am I going to be able to sing again?’” she said. “In that moment, you just think, ‘Am I gonna die? I’m too young to have this happen.’”

She continued, “Going through something as scary as that, it really kind of puts into perspective what matters. You just kind of realize you need to fight for what you want.”

Brooks said that over the past three years, she’s worked “nonstop” on her heart health, and is finally able to finish a song and even throw in a little dance.

“I’m just so blessed to even be here,” she said.

Before she decided to go with Stefani, Bublé led the crowd in a rendition of Canada’s national anthem after Brooks shared one of her first-ever gigs was the U.S. national anthem.

“We say it all the time when we try to say the right words to make people feel comfortable coming back,” Snoop added. “You’re the perfect example of that. You should be commended for that.”

The Voice airs Mondays on NBC at 8 p.m. ET, and is available to stream on Peacock the next day.
