Harris Plans to Visit Hurricane Helene-Affected Areas Soon, Says White House Official.Cau

Vice President Kamala Harris plans to visit areas impacted by Hurricane Helene once it’s safe to do so without interfering with emergency operations, according to a White House official.

During a rally in Las Vegas, Harris expressed her condolences to those affected by the hurricane, which recently made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region as the strongest hurricane on record for that area. She emphasized the nation’s support, stating, “We will stand with these communities for as long as it takes to recover and rebuild.”

Harris received a briefing from FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell regarding the federal response to Helene, which caused significant destruction across multiple states, resulting in at least 95 fatalities, widespread power outages, and families trapped by flooding. Additionally, she communicated with North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper about recovery efforts and reached out to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.
